Social Media, woe is me.

Where I complain about having to do what other people have to do.

I don't want to do Social Media. And yet it seems I must.

I know, I know, woe is me, right? WOE IS ME. Who am I to eschew the most powerful marketing tool in our modern age.

The problem is, I just don't really get it. I mean, I do, but I also don't.

Look at the various video related social media platforms, Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube, ect, and yeah, putting youtube in there is a bit of a stretch, but I'm going somewhere with this. Nearly all of those, as far as advertising or putting your face out there is concerned, favour short form things. TikTok and Instagram especially.

I really like to talk though. Like if I get going on something I like to talk about, I really get going. I will almost, by necessity, be locked into long form content.

I actually have toyed with the idea of a podcast of sorts, focusing on things in entertainment that I like, as seen from an everyman perspective. I'd love to do it by talking to other fans of the same things, and not necessarily with the experts and deep divers, just the average people.

To cross post that stuff to the shorter platforms would involve chopping it up into a bunch of little pieces and scattering it to the winds in a disorganized mass of short reels and videos, disconnected from each other and their greater narrative arc.

That just feels icky to me.

I suppose I'll have to get over it though. Can't be seen if I stay under a rock eh?
